Busy, busy, busy

puzzle.jpgThose are the 3 words I would use to describe Ethan these days.  We spend our days playing cars, working puzzles, drawing, playing catch, dancing to music, reading books and lots of other things.  Until he gets over this asthma episode he can't go outside or run around too much, so we've been doing lots of "creative" things.  Today, Ethan spent about 20 minutes walking around the house with a picture from Bible class and a magnet from the refrigerator seeing what all the magnet would stick to.  And of course, this is not a solo activity.  I was required to follow him around being excited when he found something metal, and being encouraging when he found something wood, plastic, etc.  It actually was more fun than it sounds.

He also rediscovered his dry erase boards today.  He likes to drawing.jpgdraw "Os," cars, the number one and lots of squiggles.  After he drew what I thought was an "O" today, I was quickly corrected that it was not an "O," it was an oval.  I think there might have been a slight eye roll in there, too.  I mean, can't his own mother tell the difference in an "O" and an oval!  Well, the picture of him drawing was his latest masterpiece - a slide.  Clay and Poppa are building a treehouse in my parent's back yard, and they just got the slide added so I guess that was on his mind (I'll be posting pictures of the VERY cool treehouse when it's completed).

momethan.jpgAnd Ethan has turned into an even sweeter boy when it comes to his Mom.  Yesterday I asked him to come and sit in my lap on the couch so we could play with some stickers.  He crawled up in my lap, gave me a hug and said, "My mommy loves me!"  He also loves pointing out the times that he's obeying.  If he's picking up a toy, putting his cup in the sink, eating his vegetables, etc., he says, "Mommy, look!  I'm obeying!"

P.S.  When I took him to the doctor Monday afternoon for a quick breathing check, the nurse practitioner made the following comment - keep in mind she had only spent 5 minutes with us:
"How many times a day does he say 'Mommy, look!'?"  If she only knew.
