And the winner is...

recipebox.jpgRACHEL!  While I did enjoy reading everyone's guesses (Dad, you're cracking me up.  Bryan - I still don't know what the B-Batt box is, but you can bet I'll be finding out), Rachel was this week's big winner.  This is the hinge on my recipe box.  You're asking yourself why on earth I would put up a picture of my recipe box.  Well, it's because I wanted to share a little something that I've been doing lately that doesn't involve me rotating the old and tired recipes from my box.

Several weeks ago I got my new Kraft Food & Family magazine in the mail, and one of the featured columns was called Express Checkout.  Basically it's a meal for each day of the work week, and all of the ingredients for that week will fit in one grocery sack.  It sounded like a challenge to me, so I tried it.  Here we are 4 weeks later and I'm still doing it.  I just go shopping on Sunday afternoon for that week's meals, and we're set.  They all take about 10 or so minutes to prepare, and any where from 5 to 50 minutes to cook.  We've really enjoyed most of the meals, and even the ones we probably won't do again have been good.  It's good for us because I'm just not at the point yet where I can think about something new and creative to make for dinner each night, so it's perfect for us.  Cara has started doing it for her family, and I think she's enjoying it as well.  So, all you ladies out there, if you're up for it, give it a try and let me know what you think.  Oh, and even if you don't try it, you should sign up to get the Food & Family magazine - it's free and full of great (and easy!) recipes (I got Clay's birthday cheesecake recipe from here, and people are still talking about it).

  2. I'll definitely give it a try. I've tried "Menus for Moms" but didn't have much success with it.
Making dinner has become my least favorite activity (not that it was ever that high on the list) so maybe this will help.
    Thanks for the tip!

  6. Awww...I can't believe I won! I would like to start by thanking the Academy...oh wait, wrong speech... I am going to have to subscribe to that magazine. I love quick and easy recipes and I'm getting bored of using the same old ones. Thanks for the info!
