There are so many ways that Ethan is exactly like Clay. I really should write them down as they happen - some of them make me laugh and some of them make me want to pull my hair out (love you, babe). But Clay's, um, how do I say this nicely...academic "behaviors"...are starting to be revealed through Ethan. Obviously I didn't know Clay in school, but I can only imagine. Every Thursday Ethan gets a worksheet where you are supposed to practice the letter of the week. I'm not sure how detailed the instructions are from his teacher, but I'm seeing a pattern in his worksheets. This is letter practice for Ethan (and I'm sure how letter practice went for Clay as well when he was almost 4):
1. Listen to instructions
2. Get frustrated that worksheets weren't passed out beforehand so that he could be working while instructions were given
3. Already have colors picked out as to not waste any time getting started
4. Hurry through the exercise...doing a pretty good job while hurrying
5. Turn paper over to "express" himself creatively while other students are fighting over crayons

I laughed out loud when I pulled this out of his folder. He says it's a monster with three eyes and sleeve wings. It still makes me laugh.
