Here are a couple of pictures of Ethan's first breathing treatment at 4 months old - seems like an eternity ago:

Add that to the list
We're now adding "September" to the list of things that Ethan is allergic to. Maggie just posted about her son being allergic to September, and I think that's true of Ethan as well. I'm initially blaming this round of asthma trouble on Gustav...darn hurricane. We did treatments at home all day Monday and took a trip to the doctor as well, but thought we'd throw in about 4.5 hours at the ER that night for good measure. As I've said before, the only good thing about going to the ER during an asthma attack is that they don't even show you the waiting room - they just take you right on back to a room. Somewhere between treatments 3 and 4 Ethan's deleiium surfaced to keep me laughing. He sat up in the bed and said, "Hey - where did my cast go?" I'm pretty sure that was at least 4 months ago. Shortly after he stood up in the bed and shouted, "They have the best movies here!" I guess to a 3 year old nothing compares to being able to watch Meet the Robinsons at 10:30 with a popsicle.

I totally laughed out loud at the cast comment! Poor guy.
ReplyDeleteLisa...how is it that I see you after these... how shall we say...um "experiences" and I have NO idea of what you went through the night before??? Granted I saw you from across the auditorium yesterday, but still I cannot believe that you guys had a trip to the ER on Monday night before you started school on Tuesday! That would explain why when I asked Jarrod if Ethan was with you when he talked to you he said he hadn't seen Ethan that morning! Man...we're thinking about you guys! I'll stop by in the morning and give you a hug--I hope Ethan's doing well enough to make it to school tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about the allergies and the asthma treatments... no fun but aren't you just so thankful for modern medicine and how God has just worked miracles to help us (just right down to breathing). You are a great mommy.
ReplyDeleteLisa,
ReplyDeleteI just googled your name and searches came up like "warrior", "trooper", "saint", "breath taking", "#1 momma", and "patient". You know the list went on but I had to stop at some point. You on the other hand always seem to find a way to keep going.
I don't know how you rock on the way you do. Heck, I choked up just seeing Ethan in his 4 month pictures. We will say an extra prayer for Ethan, because Ike is on his way!
