Starrs' Stock Show Saturday

stockshow_071.jpgWe met Bryan, Ginny & Co. at the Fort Worth Stock Show Saturday to show the kids around.  We initially wanted to do the rodeo, but due to some unforeseen price gouging, we opted for the stock show only.  And I guess I use the term stock show loosely considering that the only thing the kids really wanted to do was ride the carnival rides.  But, as any good parent would do, we forced some animal education on them and made them walk through the goat, cow, and rabbit barns.  While the animals were fascinating, I was really most interested in that lifestyle.  Most of the kids there looked to be in high school, and they were just hanging out in the pen with their animals talking with their friends, texting, reading magazines, eating nachos - right there in the same tiny little pen with their goat or cow.  Very interesting to me.  And a lot of their moms had replaced their soccer mom shirts with things that read, "I'm a show mom" or "I heart goats" or something to that effect.  Again, very interesting.

Ethan wants to give a shout out to Jack for hooking him up with some cowboy gear, and Rachel wants to thank Mak for the kickin' boots.  If you're in the area and are looking for a good outing, I would highly recommend going - everyone had a great time.  Even little Levi seemed to enjoy the sights and sounds.  And FYI - one day every year they have military day where any current or former military member can get free stock show and rodeo tickets for their entire family.  It was a weekday this year and didn't work out for Bryan's schedule, but still a nice perk.
